Two special rides are being organized in honor of the late individual by those who knew and loved him.
Officials reported that on Saturday, June 1, Binde, a 63-year-old resident of Alexandria, VA, was hit by a Toyota 4Runner as he attempted to cross US Route 15 and Catoctin Furnace Road in Frederick, MD. First responders on the scene declared him deceased.
The cycling and LGBTQ+ communities were deeply saddened by Binde’s unexpected passing, and have since rallied together to offer support. If you’re interested in participating, there will be two rides held in Binde’s honor – one on June 5 and another on June 15. Follow the link for more information.
According to a friend’s post on Reddit, Scott, an enthusiastic cyclist in the DC area for many years, was one of the co-founders of Outriders, a social biking group in the region that caters to the LGBTQ+ community.
He took pride in his Norwegian roots and was a devout follower of Christianity. His love for board games was only surpassed by the joy he found in spending time with loved ones, whether it be family or friends. Additionally, he had a sweet tooth and enjoyed indulging in the many delicious treats that Norway had to offer.
According to online tributes, Binde was an esteemed figure at the Lutheran Church of the Reformation in DC and an enthusiastic member of the LGBTQ+ Outdoors Club in the area.
One tribute expressed gratitude towards Scott, saying, “God, thank you for blessing us with Scott. He was kind, playful, thoughtful, crafty, and athletically gifted. We are grateful for his family and the unwavering love he shared. As we mourn his loss, we ask for blessings for his loved ones.”
