A prominent evangelical pastor based in North Texas has recently announced that he is stepping away from the ministry. The reason for his departure has not been disclosed yet.
“Due to sin,” Dr. Tony Evans has announced that he will be stepping away from his position.
One of the pioneers behind the establishment of Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship Church in Dallas and a former chaplain for the Dallas Cowboys and the Mavericks is Evans.
On June 9, Evans expressed his gratitude towards the Church by stating, “Serving as your senior pastor for the past 48 years has been an absolute joy and privilege for me. I thank God for the chance to witness His divine power and blessings that transformed a small group of 10 individuals meeting in a house into the flourishing community we have today.”
In a statement, Evans emphasized that the foundation of their ministry has always been their unwavering commitment to the Word of God as the ultimate and absolute standard of truth that should guide their lives. He acknowledged that there were instances when they fell short of this standard due to sin, and that repentance and restoration of their relationship with God were necessary. Evans also revealed that he himself had experienced such a shortcoming a few years ago.
In his statement, he admits that while he hasn’t committed any crimes, he acknowledges that he didn’t exercise “righteous judgment” in his actions. He expresses his intention to embark on a journey of “healing and restoration.”
With his radio program broadcasted on over 1,000 stations worldwide, Evans has established himself as a prominent figure in the industry.
