Seven Day Forecast for Emporia, Virginia

"Which Eye Is Closed"

We're tearing down monuments and pulling down flags
So we can forget what used to be
Yet we spend millions on a slavery museum
So our young and newborn can see.

If one would open both eyes
They could see this isn't right
You may lay ground for the future
But the past is out of sight.

So many know so little
Of what happened way back then
They make up stories to suit their cause
Yet don't know why or when.

We're forgetting our poor and homeless
For complaining makes more news
It;s not good to destroy unity
But that is what so many choose.

Another day shall pass on by
And from light to dark it'll turn
Yet we;ll still have people on our streets
The facts of life will never learn.
