FAMILY YMCA OF EMPORIA-GREENSVILLE TO HOST SPRING 5K/10K FUN RUN/WALK
The Family YMCA of Emporia-Greensville will host its annual Spring 5K Fun Run/Walk on Saturday, April 24, 2010. New this year, a 10K has been added for those runners that enjoy longer distances. The events will begin at 8:00 AM in the YMCA parking lot, and are open to all ages. Registration cost is $20 per person and everyone that pre-registers by April 15, 2010, will receive a free t-shirt. Fees increase to $25 per person after April 15, 2010. Following a course of paved roads, the 5K/10K will feature a water station and post-race refreshments. Ducks Unlimited 2010 Annual Banquet This years event will be held at the Golden Leaf Commons. Doors open at 5:30, Dinner at 7:00 and auction to follow.

Greensville County Farm Bureau will be sponsoring a Virginia Boating Safety Education Class on Wednesday, March 17, 2010 and Thursday, March 18, 2010 at the Meherrin Ruritan Clubhouse on Skippers Road. The class will be taught by the U. S. Coast Guard Auxilary and will begin each night @ 6:00pm and run til 10:00pm. You must attend both nights as the class is a required total of ( 8 ) hours. Provided all named insured’s have successfully completed this course, you are entitled to a 10 % discount, subject to a $100.00 maximum on your PWC or Boat insurance. PRE-REGISTRATION is REQUIRED. The Family Violence and Sexual Assault Unit is having the 3rd Annual Womanless Beauty Pageant on 4-24-10 at 7:00pm at the Golden Leaf Commons. Tickets are $10 and there will be a cash bar, DJ, and dance after the Pageant. We still need contestants so for information, tickets, or to sign up, give us a call at 434-348-0100. All proceeds will benefit victims of domestic violence and sexual assault.

Brunswick Academy Theatre will perform the hit movie musical, Footloose on March19th - 21st in the Brunswick Academy Gymnatorium. Friday and Saturday performances begin at 7:30 and the Sunday performance will begin at 3:00. Dinner will be served Friday and Saturday nights from 5:30 - 6:45 and on Sunday from 12:30 - 2:15 .
